Bologna and Italiano take time to reflect on the necessary reinforcement: the investment in the midfield could be postponed to July. The priorities, for now, are represented by the full-backs and the central defense. Last season, Bologna was the second team in terms of ball possession.
“In the squad there are players with different characteristics, capable of playing short and long, narrow and wide, who want the ball at their feet, without fear and with the ability to build from deep too”, said the coach in presentation venue.
And so the orientation, before purchasing a new piece for the department, is currently to wait for the first two weeks of work scheduled from 8 July onwards, before the withdrawal, to allow Italiano to evaluate live and personally know the various El Azzouzi (assuming he is not called up for the Olympics), Fabbian and Moro first and foremost, as well as Urbanski, Freuler and Aebischer, who are doing well at the European Championship.
Then it will be clearer to Italiano whether the necessary addition will be a midfielder, a midfielder, a midfielder or an attacking midfielder. The profile of the attacking midfielder, in the case of 4-2-3-1, capable of short bursts in the last 25 metres, is perhaps the missing one: but Italiano wants to understand if one of Fabbian or Urbanski, waiting for Ferguson, can do it and with which characteristics. It is no coincidence that Sartori and Di Vaio have identified very different profiles to submit to Italiano for the midfield.
From the midfielder Vranckx of Wolfsburg (Fiorentina is also there), to the attacking midfielders Tomas Suslov (21) of Verona and Adam Karabec (20) of Sparta Prague. But if Italiano wanted to opt for a three-man midfield, Sartori and Di Vaio’s notebook also includes the profiles of Thorstvedt (25) of Sassuolo, Brescianini (24) of Frosinone, Tessmann (22) of Venezia, Casadei (21) of Chelsea , James (19) from Birmingham and Prass (23) from Sturm Graz.
There are many profiles also because in the meantime, some potential object could be burned: why Lazio likes Suslov, Fiorentina and Genoa are working on Vranckx and Thorstvedt, Inter and Atalanta are working on Tessmann and James.
