Devontae Cacok’s season ended early. The American center with Jamaican citizenship had in fact reported a trauma to the right knee last December 28, 2023 during the EuroLeague match on the parquet of Partizan Belgrade. A more serious injury than expected it therefore put an end to the first season in black and white of the class of 1996. The player underwent knee surgery at the end of January 2024 and began treatment and a personalized program to recover from the injury. Despite the injury, however Segafredo Virtus Bologna seems to believe in the former Los Angeles Lakers big man and for this reason In recent months the Juventus club has been working on extending the contract. The goal was to extend the marriage until June 30, 2026 by spreading the salary. The negotiation seems to have gone through and coach Luca Banchi himself spoiled it in an interview given to BasketLand: “There are strong uncertainties regarding recovery times for a rather rare and anomalous type of injury, there are no expected recovery times. We are happy that the boy has decided to spread his contract. We hope that this boy will return to wear the Virtus Bologna shirt, due to the bad luck he has had and the sacrifices he is making.”
But what will be the future of Devontae Cacok? Recovery times are still uncertain and the You Black they evaluate the possibility to ship the pivot borrowed to help the player recover in the best possible shape without putting too much physical stress on him with the double weekly commitment that he will face against Segafredo. Bryant Dunstonwhich has an option for the 2024/25 season, should instead be confirmed by Virtus Bologna and be part of the new Juventus roster.

Devontae Cacok he arrived at the Virtus Bologna in July 2023 by signing a two-year contract. In September 2023 he won the Italian Super Cup producing 3.0 points, 1.5 rebounds and 0.5 assists on average in 7.5 minutes of usage.
The long one then traveled with Averaged 4.0 points, 3.6 rebounds and 0.4 assists in Serie A (in 12 games played with an average of 13.5 minutes on the floor) and with 3.2 points, 2.3 rebounds and 0.5 assists on average in the EuroLeague (in 15 games played with an average of 9.0 minutes with his shoes on).
