They had been identified just hours after the murder of which they were the main suspects. They have a name and a face those allegedly responsible for the death of Mario Carotenuto, the 35-year-old from Angri found lifeless in via Risi in the night between Saturday and Sunday. He bled to death, killed by a gunshot that hit his thigh and severed his femoral artery.
There prosecutor’s office of Nocera Inferiore, on Sunday night, arrested two subjects, a 40-year-old businessman, owner of a well-known nightlife venue in Angri, and a collaborator of the latter, 30 years old, of Romanian origin, both transferred to the Fuorni prison after the execution of the measure. A murder committed with premeditation and for trivial reasons. A punitive expedition that the two would have planned to teach a lesson to the 35-year-old from Angra who, a few hours earlier, completely out of his mind, had annoyed customers and staff of some establishments of the historic city centre, even damaging a shop window inside the pub owned by the arrested businessman.
The investigations launched by the Carabinieri of the territorial department of Nocera Inferiore since the discovery of the body in the street have made it possible to reconstruct the motive and dynamics of the murder of Mario Carotenuto, a very well-known drug addict in the city. THE soldiers of lieutenant colonel Gianfranco Albanese, coordinated by the deputy prosecutor of Nocera Inferiore, Michele Migliardi, they worked incessantly to shed light on what had happened and clarify many aspects that could have initially misled the investigators.
A single gunshot would have killed Mario Carotenuto known as “O warrior”, not the wounds caused by a knife, as initially hypothesized. A shot fired from a semi-automatic 9mm pistolcontested by the arrested businessman. Carotenuto, wounded and bleeding, would have tried to reach home, not far from the point where he was found lifeless, and would have dragged himself for over a hundred meters before his heart stopped beating, leaving a long trail of blood on the asphalt .
When the police arrived at around 3am on Sunday Via Risi, there were signs of stab wounds on the 35-year-old’s body. Even that hole at his thigh looked like a stab mark. No shell casings near the body. Only subsequently was it established, thanks to the investigative activity carried out, that the drug addict had been injured with cutting weapons, in several places on the body, a few hours earlier, in two separate circumstances, in Middle Street, heart of the Angrese nightlife, attacked because he had annoyed the customers and staff of some clubs in the area.
Among the attackers there was also the 40-year-old businessman subjected to arrest who, subsequently, once the place was closed, would have positioned himself, together with his collaborator, at the intersection between via Risi and via Da Procida to wait for the arrival of Carotenuto, forced to cross that intersection to reach home. The 40-year-old was intent on teaching him a lesson, personally, even though he had he himself had previously requested the intervention of a patrol of the carabinieri reporting what had happened in via Di Mezzo. The businessman knew the victim well, he knew where he lived. Upon Carotenuto’s arrival, the two suspects, armed with a gun and an iron baseball bat (both found and seized), followed him for a few meters, then one of the two – the entrepreneur – challenged the The weapon, illegally possessed, called him and shot him, perhaps from behind (the autopsy, scheduled for Wednesday morning, will establish this with certainty).
The images from the private cameras present not only in the ambush area but also in the historic center area were determined for the reconstruction of the facts, especially of the hours preceding the murder, just as the testimonies acquired by the investigators were precious, including those of some residents of via Risi and via Da Procida who, despite having mistaken the sound of the shot for the explosion of a firecracker, allowed the carabinieri to recover the shell ejected from the 9mm, far from the point where the victim’s body was found.
