PONTEDERA

The motto “1, 2, 3… Bellaria Alè” still resonates in the air. With a big end-of-season party last Friday, the Valdera rugby movement met to say goodbye, filling the fields of Bellaria. Many guests greeted the sporting year, including Simone Gesi and Damiano Mazza from Zebre Parma who accompanied the last training session of the year, which was also attended by several parents. Also present were Riccardo Bonaccorsi, president of the Tuscan Rugby Committee and councilor Mattia Belli. It was an opportunity to relive an intense year. From the exploit of the Under 16 team, which came close to achieving the feat in the Elite championship in the Triviani franchise, to the triumphant French trip of the Under 14 team to Paris with the conquest of first place, up to the numerous tournaments in which the teams in the sector participated MiniRugby (about 6/7 children per category) who almost always reached the podium. And then second place in the regional Under 18 championship, third place in the C series championship, the national finals of the Rugby Touch team and the national All-Stars championship of the Integrated Rugby team. The party was also an opportunity to say goodbye to Alessandro Crivellari, historical memory of Rugby Pisano, long-time coach of the Grand Duchy franchise, founder and driving force of the Pontederese Rugby Touch team. “Alessandro, behind the scenes, not only kept our facilities efficient – the memory of the club – but many of the transformations of our pitch were his work. Crive, it is difficult to imagine a future without your constant grumbling, we will miss you.” Finally, the board announced some of the new objectives for next year including the continuation of the Under 18/Seniors project under the guidance of Daniele Conflitto and the attempt to organize a tournament to award the “1st City of Pontedera Trophy”.
