Corciano (Perugia), 17 June 2024 – Tragedy in the skies of Umbria. An ultralight crashed in the late afternoon today, Monday 17 June, in the area between Solomeno and San Mariano di Corciano, between the city of Perugia and Lake Trasimeno. Both occupants died when the aircraft hit the ground.
The causes of the accident are still to be clarified. The identity of the two victims is not known, but based on initial information they should be two men, one aged 40 and one aged 57. On site, in addition to the 118 health workers, also teams of the firefighters and police.
The pilot would have tried in every way to avoid the crash, without success. The crash was terrible: there was nothing that could be done for him and the person traveling next to him. The flight plan, where they left from and where they were headed, is also being verified. The plane would be owned of one of the victims. Both, based on what we learned, were experienced pilots.
The aircraft crashed in agricultural land. It seems that there may also be an airfield in the area but there is no confirmation at the moment
