Parolario 2024, closes: the program of the last day

After the Como stage, the XXIV edition of the Parolario Literary Festivaldedicated this year to the theme of Folly! to celebrate the centenary of the birth of Franco Basagliapromoter of psychiatric reform in Italy and inspirer of the law which took its name from him and, from 1978, sanctioned the closure of mental asylums.

From 14th to 17th Junein fact, the second part of the Parolario Festival, dedicated to MADNESS in art and will find an appropriate location in Cernobbio at Villa Bernasconi (Largo Alfredo Campanini), one of the most significant Italian creations in Art Nouveau style, today known asthe house that speaks” as the home of a hyper-technological museum that puts the building in dialogue with visitors.

Villa Bernasconi is also the theater of the exhibition A room for Francisco Goya: the sleep of reasoninaugurated last May 10th, which will remain open until June 17th.

On display nine etchings by the Spanish painter Francisco Goya, which represent behaviors that man adopts when he loses the light of reason: vices and follies of society between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries which are not very distant from contemporary ones. The reflections aroused by the visit to the exhibition, therefore, can be considered an introduction and completion to the theme of the Festival.

At the end of the exhibition it will be possible to take part in a guided tour led by the art historian and critic Luigi Cavadini (17 June at 6pm in Cernobbio).

On June 17, Villa Bernasconi will be the scene of the closing of the exhibition “A room for Francisco Goya: the sleep of reason”. On display are nine engravings by the Spanish painter Francisco José de Goya y Lucientes, which represent behaviors that man adopts when he loses the light of reason: vices and follies of society between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries which are not very distant from contemporary ones . The reflections aroused by the visit to the exhibition, therefore, can be considered an introduction and completion to the theme of the Festival.

Final event of Parolario with the young violinist Tiziano Giudice and the soprano Ivanna Speranza. They will perform pieces by Angelo Corelli, Niccolò Paganini, Johann Sebastian Bach and Vincenzo Bellini.
