Italian Individual Table Football Champion 2024: here’s who won

In Reggio Emilia the reigning World Champion, Luca Colangelo (Fiamme Azzurre Roma) once again confirms himself as the strongest Italian athlete

REGGIO EMILIA – Many emotions in Reggio Emilia where, over the weekend of 15 and 16 June 2024, the 47th edition of the Italian Individual Table Football Championships was played. To host the important event, organized, as usual, by the Italian Sports Federation of Table Football (FISCT), in collaboration with the National Subbuteo Sector of the Organization for Sports Education (OPES, a sports promotion body recognized by CONI ), was the evocative location of Subbuteoland, a true flagship of the national miniature football circuit and Federal Center of Excellence, which in these two days of competition saw the presence of over 130 athletes from all over Italy .

Luca Colangelo wins the title of Italian Individual Champion again

For the sixth year in a row, Luca Colangelo, the current reigning World Champion (title won in the last World Cup held in Rome, in September 2022), raised the most important trophy of the Italian Individual Table Football Championships. The athlete from Casale Monferrato, but spearhead of the Capitoline formation of the Fiamme Azzurre Roma, overcame, with the result of 6 to 2, Luca Zambello (F.lli Bari Reggio Emilia), in the final of the competition. On the podium, in addition to the two finalists, also Filippo Cubeta (CT Barcellona) and Matteo Ciccarelli (Napoli Fighters), eliminated in the semi-final.

Veteran: the victory goes to Francesco Mattiangeli

In the Veteran Tournament of the 2024 Italian Individual Table Football Championships, success was instead achieved by Francesco Mattiangeli (Bologna Tigers), who got the better of Gianfranco Calonico (Master Sanremo) in the final, with a result of 3 to 2. Places of honor, in this case, also for Marco Lamberti (F.lli Bari Reggio Emilia) and Mario Corradi (Stella Artois Milano), who stopped their run only in the semi-finals.

In the Cadetti tournament, success for Federico Mattiangeli

Furthermore, an important affirmation went to Federico Mattiangeli (Virtus Rieti) who won the Cadet Tournament of the competition by narrowly beating Luca Riccio Paolo Natale (Sessana) in the final. In this case, Alessandro Migliori (SC Ascoli) and Daniele Di Cè (Subbuteisti Modena) also get on the podium.

Junior tournaments: all the results

In parallel with the main draws, the Youth Table Football Tournaments were also held which awarded the titles of Individual Italian Champions in the respective categories and which recorded massive participation, with over 30 players at the starting line, an unmistakable sign of the exponential growth of the competitive miniature football movement also among the younger generations throughout Italy.

The Under20 title was won by Christian Fricano (Subbuteo Casale), who beat Mattia Ferrante (Fiamme Azzurre Roma) in the final with a result of 5 to 4. Also on the podium were Matteo Esposito (Napoli Fighters) and Federico Da Re (Pinco Devils Table Soccer of Godega di Sant’Urbano).

In the Under16 tournament the success instead went to Riccardo Berioli (US Valponte), who overcame Angelo Bisio (Stella Artois Milan) on free throws, after the final had ended in perfect parity, with the result 3-3. Places of honor, in this case, for Nicolò Colossi (SC Bari) and Lorenzo Sani (SC Sombrero di San Miniato), eliminated in the semi-finals.

Finally, in the Under12 draw, victory for Daniele Salatino (SC Bari), who got the better of Alberto Capoferri (Rebels Genoa) with the result of 3 to 2. Alessandro Gandin (Rebels Genoa) and Alberto Barattucci (SC Abruzzo) complete the podium Ves Gentes).

During the two days in Reggio Emilia, there was also space to play the Campionato Primavera, a team competition dedicated exclusively to teams made up of Under players. The final victory was obtained by the Subbuteo Club Bari, which in the final beat the Subbuteo Club Abruzzo Ves Gentes with the result of 2 to 1. The other three participating teams were also on the podium: Rebels Genoa, Subbuteo Club Sombrero di San Miniato (PI ) and Subbuteisti Modena.

Julia Filippella’s success in the Women’s draw

Julia Filippella (ASD Aosta Warriors), finally, won the title of Italian Individual Table Football Champion 2024 in the Women’s draw by beating her teammate, the very young Viazovska Evanghelina, in the final.
