Extemporamnia 2024, Disamistade by the Sardinian painter Mario Gaspa wins – ekuonews.it

TERAMO – It’s Mario’s painting Gaspafrom Sassari, to win the fifth edition of ExtemporamniaThe Painting Festival which, on the final day, acted as a splendid corollary to the sunny but fascinating Piazza Martiri della Libertà. The work entitled won Disamistade, an acrylic on canvas measuring 90 x 100 cm. She is described thus by the artist:

In the pictorial space, at the top left, De André’s face stands out and interacts empathetically with the other figurative elements. From left to right, a vertical guitar in the foreground precedes a depiction of a small bronze and a sculpture of an elderly crouching woman inspired by prehistoric and 20th century Sardinian sculpture. Both works are known as “the mother of the murdered”. The most recent is by the Nuoro sculptor F. Ciusa.

In the background, in the bright background, the profile of an armed male figure stands out, beyond which female presences dematerialize near the facade of a church. In the background above, the profiles of the mountains of Fabrizio’s living environment appear: the Gallura.

The pictorial composition aims to evoke the link between Fabrizio and Sardinian culture with particular reference to some phrases and words from his song “Disamistade” which poetically interpret the awareness and suffering of the families involved in the disamistade (Sardinian enmity).

The red color that runs through the painting in the form of various tones and musical notes underlines the blood ties, especially those relating to hope and life: “that there must be a way of living without pain”.

Phrases and guide words to read the painting:

  • What are these souls doing in front of the church?
  • Families disarmed by blood
  • The war of the heart
  • A burst of blood – an absence
  • It’s just a rest of the wind, a half-hating

Mario Gaspa’s letter to the organization.

Dearest Enzo and dearest Roberta, with the whole “Liberementi” group.

Filled with joy after seeing the video of the awards ceremony of your competition, I thank you with a warm hug.

Thank you for the opportunity that with organizational, cultural, artistic and communicative strength and intelligence, you have created for artists and the beauty they express as an antidote to increasingly looming dehumanizing forces.

Thank you for recognizing my journey between documentation, planning and creation of the painting “Disamistade” in which you captured the profound connection between Fabrizio D Andrè and Sardinian culture. In this initiative I see a great contribution to activating the highest functions of art as an important nourishment for shaping a new humanity.

I hope to meet you soon.

A strong hug

M. Gaspa
