Pier Paolo Marino is the victim of Carlino’s car accident

The 56-year-old Pier Paolo Marino is the victim of the road accident that occurred late on Sunday afternoon in Carlino, in via Marano, along provincial road number 3. The man was traveling on a motorbike together with another person when he went off the road. The injuries he suffered were too serious and so he lost his life. The serious condition of the person who was with him was taken urgently to the Santa Maria della Misericordia in Udine (and not to Cattinara as previously indicated) by air ambulance. The Carabinieri of Latisana and the firefighters of Cervignano were on site.

Marino was a lieutenant of the Guardia di Finanza with special duties, commanded the Mobile Unit of San Giorgio di Nogaro, had been nominated Knight of the Republic, and had held command positions for 30 years. He had specializations in the field of counter-terrorism and out-of-area operations. From 1997 to 2005 he held the position of honorary deputy prosecutor in the courts of Udine, Palmanova and Cividale del Friuli in approximately 600 criminal hearings, representing the public prosecution in more than 12 thousand criminal proceedings. in 2007 he trained, on behalf of NATO, around 100 officers of the Afghan border police as part of the Afghan yellow flames mission called “Grifo”. In 2009 he was accredited to the United States secret service “Presidential protective division”, as part of the visit to Italy of the president of the United States Barack Obama and included in the escort unit, receiving a personal dedication signed by the president himself. He carried out activities in favor of the Consul General of the United States of America in Milan. He had great expertise in industrial safety.
