MARTELLAGO – The “lunch break” gang actually managed to pull off a robbery at a business, at the Maxi Sacchetto supermarket. The brazen modus operandi of a couple of criminals who on Saturday targeted commercial establishments in broad daylight and in the center of Martellago has caused dismay: the two, filmed by the shops’ cameras, arrived on a motorbike with a cloned license plate , their faces were distorted by the helmet and they were wearing black leather jackets.

But initially it was thought that they had only struck at Smania Idee Casa, a large housewares shop in via Boschi 1, a section of the former Regionale Castellana: although the building overlooks a busy road, the two raiders entered the internal park of the building at 1.30pm. activity and tried several times, using several crowbars, to force the armored glass door to enter and steal the goods, but the window held up, the alarm went off and the thieves fled, leaving behind however heavy break-in damage. However, the duo did not give up and at 2.15pm they returned to action a few hundred meters away also in the central Via Fapanni at the Maxì supermarket, currently closed for the lunch break, like Smania: the images recorded by the video surveillance of the two shops match, they were the same.
Here too, despite the business being located on the ground floor of a building and in a very busy area, the thieves, as if nothing had happened, “attacked” the heavy motorized shutter, managing to lift it, and also easily opened the sliding doors. One of the two, therefore, entered undisturbed, also because in this case the alarm had not been activated: “we hadn’t turned it on for two hours, who would think that they would steal from you like that, in broad daylight?” the owner, Alberto Sacchetto, commented bitterly. And instead the criminal went to the tills, smashing the drawers and grabbing all the money he found, around 130 euros, and then, in the three minutes in which the raid lasted, he also made a quick tour of the aisles of the shop, but without taking anything away. Then the couple, who in all likelihood also had a “support” accomplice in the car, disappeared at full speed towards other “targets”. The first to make the nasty discovery, at 3.20pm, was a supermarket employee who, preparing to open for Saturday afternoon, found the shutter damaged and everything else. The owner had no choice but to report the theft, as his fellow owner of the housewares shop had already done shortly before, to the police at the local station.
