Ostia, 16 June 2024 – A new serious accident occurred in via Cristoforo Colombo, a few hours after the tragic accident that took the life of Luca Pupillo, a 26-year-old resident of Infernetto. Pupillo, riding his Kawasaki Z900 motorbike, was hit by a Ford Fiesta driven by a 21-year-old girl at 4.30 in the morning at the intersection with Via di Acilia, in the direction of Ostia.

In the afternoon of the same day, another accident occurred at the intersection with Via di Malafede. At 5.45pm, two cars collided violently, injuring five people.

Immediately after the alarm, the 118 health workers and the agents of the X Gruppo Mare of the local police of Roma Capitale intervened on the scene. The police carried out the necessary investigations and closed Via Cristoforo Colombo in the stretch between Malafede and Via di Acilia, diverting traffic onto Via di Malafede.

Five people injured in the clash

The accident resulted in five injuries. The most serious is a woman, who was transferred under code red by the 118 health workers to the Biomedical Campus. Two other men were transported to the S. Eugenio hospital, while for two other people the intervention of the medical staff on site was sufficient without the need for hospitalization.

Via Cristoforo Colombo continues to be the scene of serious accidents, raising concerns about road safety in this busy area. Local authorities are investigating the causes of the accidents and working to improve safety conditions for all road users.
