TERAMO – In the early afternoon of today a team of the Teramo firefighters intervened to recover a woman who was injured in the Gole di Fossaceca area, in the municipality of Isola del Gran Sasso. The woman, a 39-year-old resident in Viterbo, was engaged in canyoning activities and following a fall which caused her to sprain her ankle, she needed help. Once the call from the emergency number 112 was received, the Teramo firefighters sent an operational team to the site and requested the intervention of the helicopter from the flight department of the Pescara firefighters, while the 118 control unit sent an ambulance at the square of the Sanctuary of San Gabriele. The fire brigade helicopter flew to the site of the intervention and as soon as it identified the injured woman, an air rescuer descended between the walls of the stream and reached her. Once she was harnessed, she was winched on board and transported to the San Gabriele square, where she was transferred to the 118 ambulance with which she was transferred to the Mazzini hospital in Teramo.
