Stefania Craxi was born in Milan on 25 October 1960. Known above all for being the daughter of the Prime Minister and secretary of the PSI Bettino Craxi and Bobo’s older sister. In 1985 she became production secretary for the program “Viva le donne” and for “Miss Italia”. In 1986 you founded Italiana Produzioni Audiovisive, now called Endemol. After the death of her father in 2000, she left her television career and started the Craxi Foundation.
Politics
From a political point of view, Stefania Craxi, after having been a deputy from 2006 to 2013 for Forza Italia, again with the Azzurri, was then elected senator in the last political elections of 2018. On 18 May 2022, she was then appointed president of the Foreign Affairs commission at Senate to replace the five-star Vito Petrocelli.
The two weddings
Craxi married twice. Before her with the entrepreneur Renato Neri, with whom she had a son Federico (1987). Subsequently, she married Marco Bassetti, former president and director of Endemol now at the helm of Banijay, with whom she had her daughters Benedetta and Anita (1991), stylist and designer in Milan.
The death of the father
In a 2020 interview on Domenica In with Maria Venier, Stefania Craxi opened up about her father, Bettino Craxi, and his death in 2000. «He was a man who had an impressive curiosity towards others, he was curious of humanity, of humanity’s weaknesses – said the daughter – It makes me very angry when I hear that we need to discuss Craxi and reflect. Today everything is known about him, even his personal life is known.” And recalling his death in exile in Hammamet, Tunisia, he said: “A state funeral was offered a few minutes after his death with great hypocrisy, but I await answers from this policy, I saw him die.”
