Sunbathing is worth its weight in gold and reservations are sold out: Portonovo, everyone wants you

ANCONA First real weekend of summer. Portonovo expects the usual full house, this is nothing new. The 460-seat Pieri maxi park makes its debut. The bay is almost sold out, even if a day at the beach, in some cases, is worth its weight in gold. An umbrella and two sunbeds? It reaches peaks of 50 euros, even if the operators assure: “No price increase”. «We have maintained the same price list as last year» says Maurizio Sonnino, owner of Capannina. That is: 50 euros per day (umbrellas and two sunbeds) in the front row, 35 euros in the back. But for the parking option it is another 15 euros. And the bill paid off.

The operators

The seasonal ticket from Sonnino varies in a range between 1,900 and 2,900 euros – based on the location – parking space included (which affects the total by 600 euros). In line is Giacchetti, who for a seasonal player in the front row, with parking space, marks 2,900 (2,000 without). If you add the shed you get to 3,200. But also for the plant manager he guarantees: «No increase in prices compared to 2023». High prices? No less than many other renowned Italian locations. And anyway, today the seats are sold out. The lure of the bay is too strong, at any price. And precisely for this reason the little jewel at the foot of the Conero must be protected.

Not like this limping start to the season, with the storms that have taken away half the beach on the Capannina side and the works that are late in planning. The operators, also for this reason, have decided not to adjust the price lists, while still managing to guarantee such a number of umbrellas capable of satisfying the usual requests of seasonal workers and maintaining a sufficient portion for tourists. The cheapest Bonetti, with the seasonal ticket at 890 euros and the daily ticket (umbrella and 2 sunbeds) between 25 and 35 euros. And there is the option “if you don’t go to the beach, you earn money on drinks”.

That is: if the seasonal customer communicates in advance the days on which he will not go to the beach, he will be reimbursed in his prepaid card, approximately 8 euros per day. On the pier side the seasonal rates remain proportionate to their colleagues in the south bay. At the Franco establishment 1,400 euros, the daily fee (umbrella and two sunbeds) between 25-30 euros in low season, from 30 to 35 euros in July. «August is worth seeing – says the owner Gianni Boriani -. Compared to last year, I raised seasonal wages by 100 euros.” At the Molo they range from 1,800 for the rearmost positions to 2,200 euros for the front rows. Daily: from 25 to 30 euros in June, from 30 to 35 euros in July and 45 euros for the first rows in August. At Emilia, however, no seasonal option. «We have few umbrellas – reports the owner Federica Rubini -, about thirty. Here the erosion has made itself felt.” But no price increase. The daily ticket goes from 35 euros for the second and third row to 40 for the first.
