«Return to the world of art and civilization the masterpiece by Caravaggio, is a true humanitarian mission, as well as cultural. I am amazed by the picture, I took part in this meeting with great enthusiasm, which gave rise to an effective institutional collaboration». These are the words of the ambassador of North Macedonia in Italy, Vesel Memedi, visiting in Banco Napoli Foundationwhere he was able to admire Caravaggio’s painting “The Taking of Christ”, which can still be visited for a few days, until June 16th.
The work exhibited in the rooms of Palazzo Ricca it is one of the most important Caravaggio discoveries of recent decades, due to the complexity of the composition and the spiritual contents it expresses.
«After an accurate restoration intervention and an intense study activity, also carried out through diagnostic investigations – explained the General Director of the Ciro Castaldo Foundation – this grandiose work was put on display, namely the first version of the famous composition depicting “The Taking of Christ”».
