Despite a gradual increase in atmospheric pressure, Liguria remains under the threat of humid south-western currents bringing clouds particularly to the central-eastern sector. Greater clearings in the far west and inland western areas.
Liguria, like the rest of northern Italy, is grappling with a new increase this morning cloudiness determined by the passage of a Atlantic front (sat image at the foot of the article) just north of the Alps. In Liguria, in particular, this determines the establishment of new humid south-western currents which bring increasingly intense cloud cover from the west (high and stratified type) to the east with very cloudy skies and some local rainfall in the Tigullio. A baric situation that of this period which is still “blocked” with extreme variability spring-like with temperatures which, after the decline of the last few days, see an average return over the weekend,
A quick look at minimum temperatures of the night allows us to observe values still decidedly fresh in inland and mountain areas. Along the coastal strip the Limet network recorded values ranging from 15°C on the Eastern Riviera, 16/17°C on the Ponente Riviera up to 20°C in Savona. Values, as mentioned, are lower in the inland valleys with minimums between 10 and 13°C up to the lowest peaks of only 5.2°C in the Avetana valley of Cabanne (GE). At altitude we record a minimum of +5.5°C in the Ligurian Alps at 2065 meters of Rifugio La Terza and +6.7°C at 1468 meters of Rifugio Monte Antola on the Ligurian Apennines. Thermal zero gradually rising to around 3000 metres.
What can we expect for today?
Starting from the Ponente Maggiore sunny spells albeit in the context of cloudy skies which will become more cloudy in the central and eastern sector. Low clouds with greater accumulations at the first elevations where brief showers are not excluded in the afternoon. Time discreet in the afternoon on Imperiese, Ligurian Alps and internal areas of Savona. Alternation of clouds and sun on the coastal areas of eastern Savona. There ventilation it will remain from the south-west with reinforcements on the coasts and the Apennines.
