Thus Marcell Jacobs, reigning Olympic champion in the 100 metres, as he left the Quirinale to hand over the Italian flag ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics, did not hide his desire to follow in the footsteps of Gianmarco Tamberi and Arianna Errigo.
A speech, that of the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, who moved Jacobs for “the energy he managed to convey, this really struck me. His was a beautiful message”. Then, on the Olympics, he admits that the European Championship in Rome was “a first objective, we managed to bring home two gold medals in two races so it’s good.
Now head to Paris, it will be nice to get there with this energy.
I know that I can run very fast, I haven’t proven it on the track yet because when you change your method and technique a little it takes a while to find it again, but after the race I did yesterday in the relay I felt excellent sensations and therefore I can’t wait to get back on track and compete”, concludes the Italian sprinter.
