In Modigliana there is great attention to dialectso much so that for over a decade, there has been a real forge that has been producing initiatives of all sorts, from courses in schools, to cinema, theater and journalism, especially involving women new generations. L’ Academy of the Walking, has been promoting these projects for some time. The latest gem produced is the film Quand ch’ann’amie gnent (When We Had Nothing) written and directed by Alberta Tedioliwith experience in the sector and member of Regional scientific committee for the protection and valorization of dialects.
The V°B of the Modigliana comprehensive institute is the protagonist
The film was produced in close collaboration with teachers Rita Bellini and Michela Fabbri and with class VB of the Modigliana Comprehensive Institute. Filming and editing were carried out by the filmmaker Leone Guidi. It’s a film that lasts less than an hour, starred in Modigliano dialectwith 33 actors more about ten extraseveryone from 9 to 11 years. It’s the story of a great one peasant family of our hills that in post-war first he struggles to stay and live in the countryside, then he gives in to factory and other opportunities of modernity. There is a description of one family with many childrenand many daughters, each with their dreams aimed at finding something new well being. They intertwine stories with people from rural neighborhood and it tells of a life that seems prehistoric but only concerns a few decades ago. The text of the film, in addition to the dialect, has edited the contents making them useful for discussions about roles, on customs and on the great changes. In short, a different way to study the recent history. The children who acted committed themselves with enthusiasm and managed to learn even very long parts and with excellent accents. The commitment for everyone was a lot, covering an entire year of work, but the result remains one pearl to be loved and left in memory of the town of Modigliana.
