Fire Brigade of Milan, the visit of President Fontana: “Over 300 interventions in Gessate and Bellinzago due to the flood”
The Governor thanked the Fire fighters for their commitment.
“You are loved and appreciated by the population. I think it is a pride of our Region – she commented – to have such a well organized body. It is a guarantee for our citizens to know that they can count, unfortunately more and more frequently, on their intervention. They are very good both from a technical point of view, and for this reason they are constantly updated, and from a human point of view in knowing how to approach the anxieties that people feel in certain moments.”
Data on activity in the Milan area
On the occasion of this meeting, which was attended by the regional director Fabrizio Piccininithe provincial commander Nicola Micele presented some data relating to the fire brigade’s activity carried out in 2023 in the Milan area and surrounding areas: the rescue interventions were 28,669, around 80 per day and with over 40,000 teams involved. The average arrival time on site was approximately 17 minutes.
In July 2023, 1,200 rescue operations were carried out due to bad weather
Regarding the wave of bad weather that affected Milan and the province in July 2023were carried out 1,200 interventions rescue, with the use of a total of one thousand units and 35 vehicles. For the flood of May 2024 which involved the Milanese areas of Pinstripes and of Bellinzagothe interventions were over 300.
