In a wheelchair due to an accident but under accusation: acquitted

MANTOVA He had been involved in a road accident, a head-on collision between his Golf and a Punto driven by a Romanian woman, and had lost the use of his legs. Although the driver of the other car had agreed to a plea for very serious injuries, he also ended up on trial for the same accident. Contributory guilt, according to what the public prosecution claimed, which yesterday asked for a 2-month prison sentence. Acquitted because the fact does not exist, the sentence issued yesterday by judge Raffaella Bizzarro, who fully accepted the request of the lawyer Cataldo Giosué, defender of Riccardo Bettoni, a 58-year-old from Bozzolo, confined to a wheelchair following the injuries sustained in the accident of which he was the victim on 18 May 2018 while he was traveling along a municipal road in Tornata on his way to work in a supermarket in the area. The two cars had collided head-on. Gjuzi Luljeta, driver of the other car involved, escaped with injuries for a dozen or so prognosis. Bettoni had ended up in court for those injuries and for an expert opinion that attributed contributory negligence in the accident to him. The acquittal was obtained yesterday, while the civil case with which the 58-year-old is trying to obtain adequate compensation continues.
