According to the regional council, there is no hole in the 229 million euro healthcare system, contrary to what is claimed by the progressives in the opposition. “An increase in regional taxes and any cut in services must therefore be excluded” promises the interim president of the Liguria Region Alessandro Piana regarding the news released on the economic accounts of healthcare and hospital companies for the first quarter.
Furthermore, “there is no concern about the companies’ income statements for the first quarter because these are purely forward-looking estimates which do not take into account a series of decisive and fundamental elements. Among these it is worth mentioning the next distribution of the National Health Fund to be which more resources are foreseen. Furthermore, the usual scheduling of working tables with the directors of healthcare and hospital companies has never been interrupted to respect the timetables”.
For the Health Councilor Angelo Gratarola, the Health accounts are complex and the estimates must be considered incomplete because “they neglect elements without which the picture does not closely adhere to reality. It is therefore good to clarify the economic accounts which show all the costs, but only a part of the revenues from the health fund, and therefore the trend deficit is overestimated. Not only that, the economic accounts do not reveal restricted revenues, such as the pharmaceutical payback, and do not take into account the governance and rationalization actions that all. general managers are implementing it after having seen the result of the first quarter. The objective for them is to bring the balance from trend (i.e. what it would be if there were no General Directorates to govern the system) to programmatic, i.e. the result of management actions which, in addition to guaranteeing the LEA-Essential levels of assistance, lead to sustainable budget results. Every year, by their nature, the economic accounts for the first quarter are significantly oversized on the cost side and therefore imprecise. The Council is implementing all the actions necessary to maintain the current regional healthcare system, excluding cuts and increases in taxes”.
