“You win with dialogue, heavy defeat in the city”

In this round we recorded extraordinary victories and heavy defeats: among the former there are certainly Argenta and Ostellato, among the latter unfortunately the capital city. I start by highlighting the two extraordinary victories of Argenta and Ostellato. Extraordinary because they are not at all obvious and because they are the result of incredible teamwork (here it was worth more than in other contexts). If we think about the run-off election 5 years ago in Argenta won by 35 votes or the presence of insidious and unscrupulous lists in Ostellato, this belief is strengthened and gives credit to the work done by the administrators and the PD in those territories. Just as the two ballots in Tresignana and Copparo tell us that we are in the field to obtain an important result for those communities (if we think of Copparo, where there was an outgoing centre-right mayor, who was not reconfirmed in the first round we cannot help but highlight the extraordinary work done by Enrico Bassi and his team). Then there are other results (Mesola and Masi Torello) which confirm that the projects were solid and that in the face of an uphill political context, the center left was truly fought with quality and strength. Of course, elections can be won or lost even by 60 votes and this must be acknowledged, in this case with regret. Other results from the province have given us a more complicated picture (which we also knew from the start) but which was addressed through the construction of the best possible political framework: in some cases we have mended fractures from the past, in all the municipalities of the province there is no they were alternative lists to the center-left camp (a result that was not at all obvious from the start). We are obviously sorry for these results as well as for that of the city where we must acknowledge a clear defeat and which gives us a reflection to implement immediately. We will make a broad reflection because if it is true that defeats must be understood (we must not limit ourselves to pretending to do so), it is equally true that we can and must learn a lot from victories too. And what Argenta and Ostellato teach us is that with the patience of dialogue, sharing and teamwork, results can come and be extraordinary. I thank all our candidates for the energy and spirit of service demonstrated, just as I wish good luck to all the elected mayors!
