Bruno Vespa reaches the limit. In yesterday’s episode Monday 10 June 2024 the journalist hosted the prime time special of Door to door on Rai 1: the appointment not only turned out to be a resounding flop in terms of ratings, but also led the host to lose patience. On the occasion of the day after the 2024 European elections yesterday Monday 10 June Door to door went on the air with one special in prime time. The appointment was a resounding flop for Rai 1 (collapsed to 5.87% share and 886 thousand viewers, also surpassed by La7), but also a complicated evening for the talk show host. In fact, Vespa first had a heated confrontation with the deputy of the Chamber for the Democratic Party Marco Fufaroonly to finally lose patience with its authors.
Fufaro first attacked Roberto Vannacci and his candidacy in the 2024 European elections, underlining his past close to the fascist formation of Tithe Mas. “I think that everything is legal and legitimate in politics, one is on the right and the other is on the left. But I believe that it is unacceptable that in the public service we listen to a European parliamentarian who says that Decima Mas had a glorious season ” the PD representative pointed out. Bruno Vespa, however, surprised everyone by taking the defense not only of the Italian general, but also of Decima Mas herself: “In the meantime, I do not agree that the public service cannot accommodate a gentleman who has received 530,000 preferences. Be patient. First point. Then second point, the Decima Mas as Vannacci said had two moments. I say this because you said that it is not possible to make someone like that speak in the public service, oh no”. Fufaro underlined how we cannot go through “glorious seasons” if stained with war crimes, torture and shootings: “I believe that an MEP who says this and adds that Mussolini was a statesman is very serious.”
The outburst against the authors
After the surreal argument with Marco Fufaro, Bruno Vespa he found himself having difficulty containing his guests. At the end of the evening, the Abruzzo journalist was forced to close in order not to exceed the time limits of the first evening, but initially without success. Reprimanded by the director, Vespa responded in kind and particularly annoyed, raising his voice and lashing out against its authors (who were waving at him to close): “Enough please, we have to close. You’re waving at me, I saw you! Will you stop? Here, enough, please. Now I have to close, because otherwise these pains in the ass…“.
