A coordinated investigation by the State Police aimed at combating drug dealing active in the center of Monfalcone led to seven 7 arrests and the seizure of 290 grams of cocaine.
The activity began in the summer of 2023, when some suspicions fell on a recently opened public place managed by people from the Dominican Republic, very frequented by customers of South American origin, dedicated to both the consumption and dealing of narcotic substances , in the presence or with the same participation of the managers.
The police patrols made it possible to identify one of the sources of drug supply, to carry out numerous seizures of narcotic substances, as well as to arrest two Italians aged 34 and 45, caught in a car with 50 grams of cocaine.
At the end of the investigative activity, coordinated by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Gorizia, the Judge for preliminary investigations at the Isonzo Court issued precautionary custody orders against four Dominican citizens implicated in the crimes – aged between 33 and 53 years and residents in the municipalities of Udine, Romans d’Isonzo (GO) and San Pier d’Isonzo (GO) – as well as the further measure of the residence obligation for a further person under investigation, also a 44-year-old Dominican citizen resident in Romans d’Isonzo (GO).
The precautionary measures were carried out last June 7, at the end of 11 house searches carried out also with the help of drug-sniffing dogs.
Precisely during the checks, a forty-two year old Dominican resident in Turriaco (GO), was caught in possession of two wrappers with a total weight of approximately 220 grams of cocaine, a circumstance for which he was also arrested in flagrante delicto. crime of possession for the purpose of dealing narcotic substances.
Five other people were also investigated in a state of freedom whose position was not such that coercive measures had to be applied against them.
The public place where the illicit activities took place, the “La Carrozza” restaurant in Via dell’Arena in Monfalcone, was closed for 90 days with an administrative order from the Police Commissioner of Gorizia, issued pursuant to art. 100 TULPS.
