CNN: The United States helped Israel in the release of hostages in Gaza

Gaza. A US unit in Israel supported efforts to recover four Israeli hostages in the central Gaza Strip, CNN reported Saturday, citing a US official.

“A US cell in Israel supported efforts to rescue four Israeli hostages, collaborating with Israeli forces in the operation,” the official told CNN.

CNN previously reported that Israel has been preparing for Saturday’s operation for weeks, involving hundreds of people from the Israeli army, the National Intelligence Service and a special police unit.

On Saturday, Israel said it had recovered four Israeli hostages in the central Gaza Strip after a military operation in the area.

The army identified the freed hostages as Noa Argamani, 25; Andrey Kozlov, 27; Shlomi Ziv, 40; and Almog Meir, 21 years old.

The army also said the hostages were found in two separate areas of the camp and that they were in good health.

Israel continues its brutal offensive on Gaza following the Hamas attack on October 7, despite a United Nations Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire.

Since then, more than 36,700 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza, most of them women and children, and more than 83,500 others have been injured, according to local health authorities.

Eight months into Israel’s war, large swaths of Gaza lie in ruins due to a crippling blockade of food, clean water and medicine.

Israel is accused of genocide by the International Court of Justice, whose latest ruling ordered Tel Aviv to immediately halt operations in the southern city of Rafah, where more than a million displaced Palestinians have taken refuge.
