Fratelli d’Italia wins 24% of the votes compared to the 2019 European elections; five years ago, 7,531 residents of the province voted for Giorgia Meloni’s party, 5.26% of voters, while in recent days 35,440 citizens cast their votes for Fratelli d’Italia, 29.35% of the total voters .
The decline in voters who went to the polls affects the percentages of the votes of the various parties but it is also interesting to consider the absolute value of voters. The second party in the province is the Democratic Party which went from 21.88% to 23.09% but with fewer votes in absolute terms: in 2019 31,300 voters supported the Democratic Party and this year there are 27,877.
The divisions within Salvini’s party have a heavy impact on the vote for the League, which from being the first party in 2019 with 38.79% of the votes (55,494 voters) collapses to 11.11% (13,417 votes).
Forza Italia, a party led by Antonio Tajani, has relied heavily on the long wave of Berlusconi nostalgia, on the need for a “moderate” force within the centre-right, and has risen in percentage in the vote ranking in the Savona area, going from 8.36% to 9, 36%, but with fewer voters than in the elections five years ago: in 2019 11,964 voters signed the Forza Italia symbol and this year 11,316 voted for Forza Italia-We Moderates-PPE.
The 5 Star Movement collapses, going from 15.09% (21,584 votes) to 8.93% (10,777). The Green Alliance and the Left won 7.15% of the votes (8,633).
Action-We are Europeans (3.14%), United States of Europe (3.48), Peace, Earth, Dignity (2.83); Freedom (0.99%), Popular Alternative (0.34) do not exceed the threshold of 4% and remain outside the European Parliament.
Overall, there were 129,639 voters, 54.58% of those entitled to vote; invalid ballots 5,657, blank ballots 2,966, contested ballots 4.
