ANCONA – Twelve trips a day cut. Conerobus struggling with the fight against waste. «We cannot afford empty buses, we must optimize resources» points out the president Italo D’Angelo. The measure concerns three lines: the 1/4, the 2 and the 3 for the entire summer period, reducing the frequency of passages, bringing the waiting times from 7 to 9 minutes and from 14 to 16. In reality, a reduction in the number of trips it also occurred in previous years for the period of July and August.

While this year it was brought forward from June 1st and extended until September 12th.

The measure

«This is with a view to reducing waste» reiterates D’Angelo, who is keen to underline: «More than cutting, it’s about optimisations. That is, buses with more people on board and with well-distributed loads and above all a single timetable for the entire summer period.” The councilor for Mobility and relations with Conerobus, Giovanni Zinni, highlights the compensatory measure: «We are going to strengthen the lines towards the sea so that users can use all our beaches». Zinni refers to lines 94 and 95. Furthermore, the novelty of line 93 which from this summer will not have its terminus in Massignano, but will arrive in Portonovo on four daily trips. But the cut in routes is not the only issue Conerobus is dealing with. In fact, the RSU proclaimed a state of agitation and started the cooling procedure. In essence, the unions and management will meet on Wednesday morning in the Prefecture in the presence of the prefect himself or an official to avoid an escalation of tensions.

The meeting

The union representatives complain about “the lack of industrial relations” and the “failure to respect company agreements on work organisation”, we read in a note. In reality it would seem that what got on the unions’ nerves was a meeting in which CEO Giorgio Luzi (unknowingly) withdrew. «Just a misunderstanding – dissolves D’Angelo -. The unions were waiting for him in the Ricciotti room, Luzi on the upper floor busy with work matters. He just delayed, but the unions left. That’s all”.
