Ferrara, drunk driver crashes into car: a 45-year-old woman dies

Tragedy in the Ferrara area, where a 45-year-old woman, Marika Cucchiarini, died yesterday afternoon at the Maggiore hospital in Bologna, where she had been taken in desperate conditions after an accident which occurred in the night between Wednesday and Thursday 6th on the Adriatica state road in San Nicolò di Silver. The woman had gone in the Citroen C3 to pick up her son who was at a party. With him there were a girl and two boys, all 18 years old. Their car was rear-ended by a Renault Clio traveling at high speed, driven by a 24-year-old young man who, driving while drunk, was arrested by the police and placed under house arrest.

The passengers of the other car were injured

After taking the Adriatica state road towards Consandolo and arriving at a construction site, they found the red light and the car driven by the woman stopped. The car was rear-ended by the Clio. All the occupants of the C3 were injured: some of the boys suffered permanent injuries, none of them are in danger of life. In the morning, the hearing to validate the arrest was held before the preliminary investigation judge Silvia Marini. Prosecutor Barbara Cavallo challenged him on the new charge, adding vehicular homicide to the initial injuries. The young man, assisted by lawyers Carmelo Marcello and Pasquale Longobucco, answered the investigating judge’s questions, saying he was mortified by what had happened and explaining that he had not seen anything. “It is a painful story that has upset everyone, even us defenders,” lawyer Marcello said after the hearing. “Now is the time for pain and closeness to the victim’s family. The technical defense is necessary and will be there at the right time.”
