A 40-year-old from Montescaglioso was injured in the head-on impact

We continue to update the war bulletin: today’s is the thirteenth fatal accident that has occurred on Lucanian roads since the beginning of the year.” The comment of the Provincial Secretary of the Matera UGL, Pino Giordano, is very harsh: «let’s go and explain to the families of the two victims that the priority is to build the bridge over the Strait of Messina while, in Basilicata we still have roads from the third world. Domenico Liccese (70 years old) and Rosa Lenge (65) who were traveling to Matera for health reasons died instantly in the tragic crash that occurred on provincial road 3 which leads from Matera to Metaponto di Bernalda. At Km. 5+700 not far from the Tre Confini tunnel, the Fiat Multipla driven by Liccese in the company of his wife Lenge collided with a Lancia Musa driven by a 39-year-old woman. In the accident it was the married couple who suffered the worst, losing their lives. Husband and wife were both from Pomarico, while the 39-year-old came from Montescaglioso (MT) and was transported to hospital.”
