Bagnaia wins in style in the Mugello Sprint, Martin has an accident.

Ducati’s Francesco Bagnaia emerged victorious in the MotoGP sprint race at Mugello in dominant fashion, while current championship leader Jorge Martin crashed out with just four laps left to go.

Ducati’s factory duo of Bagnaia and Bastianini made a strong start, taking the lead into the first corner. Meanwhile, Binder, who started 13th on the grid, gained an impressive nine places to follow Pramac’s Martin.

Martin quickly overtook Bastianini on the straight, retaking second place, with Marquez doing the same to overtake Binder.

Unfortunately, Fabio Quartararo and Miguel Oliveira collided in the third sector on lap two, effectively eliminating themselves from the fight from the start. Oliveira attempted a last-minute move on the reigning champion, but ended up crashing along with Quartararo.

Bastianini managed to overtake Martin at Turn 1 on lap three, but his attempt to regain the racing line led to a collision with Martin. Despite this incident, no further action was taken.

Meanwhile, Pedro Acosta, recently announced as a factory KTM rider, managed to get past Binder, securing fourth place.

Marquez attempted a late braking move to challenge Martin for second place at Turn 1, but was unsuccessful on his first attempt. However, on the next lap, the eight-time champion found an opportunity on the inside line of the long straight and was able to successfully overtake the championship leader.

Repsol Honda’s Joan Mir abandoned the race missing five laps, despite starting from a promising position in qualifying.

Unfortunately, Martin pushed his GP24 too hard at Turn 1, causing him to drop out of the race and find himself in third place with just four laps remaining.

Marquez managed to close the gap to leader Bagnaia, but was unable to overtake him, thus securing a place on the podium.

Bagnaia’s victory in the Mugello sprint race reduced Martin’s championship lead to 27 points, while Marquez took another podium place on his last year’s Gresini machine.

Acosta’s podium marked his second sprint race podium at the high-speed circuit, with Pramac’s Franco Morbelli finishing in fourth place.

Maverick Vinales had a solid performance, finishing in fifth place as Aprilia’s best rider, followed by Binder and Fabio Di Giannantonio.

Alex Marquez took eighth place, narrowly beating Aleix Espargaro in a thrilling finish line photo. Both drivers finished one second ahead of Trackhouse driver Raul Fernandez.

Marco Bezzecchi finished eleventh, but maintained a comfortable four-second gap from Jack Miller.

Alex Rins found himself between the two KTM riders, with Pol Espargaro finishing in 14th place, just ahead of Honda’s top rider, Johann Zarco.

Takaaki Nakagami achieved a respectable 16th place, making up for his disappointing performance in qualifying. Both LCR riders finished comfortably ahead of Augusto Fernandez on the GasGas bike.

Aprilia test rider Lorenzo Savadori finished in penultimate place, with Luca Marini completing the field in last place.
