Orvieto, special edition of the birth support meeting “Il Maggio dei Libri” – Orvieto Life

Professionals from the counseling center of the Umbria local health authority were the protagonists of the event promoted in Orvieto “Il Maggio dei Libri 2024 edition”, an opportunity – explain the organizers – to share and make the local community aware of the continuous and virtuous relationship that has been built with the operators of the “Luigi Fumi” library since 1999, on the occasion of the launch of the national “Born to Read” project. The event took place in recent days and included listening, in the euphonic room of the municipal library, to the work “Hand on the heart”, a text composed by Mirella Cleri, psychologist-psychotherapist of the Orvieto Consultancy, on the notes of the Maestro Maurizio Mastrini. “This representation with guided visualization – explains Dr. Cleri – was created with the aim of allowing a deep contact between the mother and the child centered on the energy of the heart to experience a moment of calm and peace of love, giving inner strength , letting yourself go to the internal world”.
The birth support meetings are organized and carried out by the midwives of the clinic in a team effort where, as in an orchestra, everyone plays their part. They are courses aimed at mothers and fathers during pregnancy and have a thirty-year tradition in the Orvieto clinic. They are part of health promotion projects for which the clinic has a full institutional mandate, providing, thanks to law 405 of 1978, an educational function in the phases of the life cycle of the family, the couple and the woman.

In Orvieto, together with the midwives, a psychologist is also present at the activities “with the task – explains Dr. Mirella Cleri – of supporting the parental identity through sharing in groups and as a couple, promoting knowledge of emotions and life skills, activate the support network, encourage dialogue between mother and child and prenatal communication”. The president of the Order of Midwives of the province of Terni, Dr. Maria Antonietta Bianco, spoke at the well-attended meeting, which received wide consensus and appreciation from the mothers and fathers present.
The initiative, given its popularity, will be repeated on June 20th to allow mothers and fathers to also participate in the new birth support courses.
