2024 AP RACE INTERNATIONAL

The second day of the AP Race International 2024, the meeting organized and named after the British Olympic icon Adam Peatyended in London with some major swims.

Now in its second year of operation, AP Race International is fast becoming a flagship event on the global racing calendar, with talent attracted from Germany, Hungary, the Netherlands and beyond.

We told how the Czech Barbora Seemanova set two national records in as many days of competition.

After lowering his national standard in the 400m freestyle on the first day, he turned in a huge performance in the 200m freestyle. Winning in 1:55.12, Seemanova posted the group’s only time under the 1:57 mark. Freya Colbertof the host nation, won in 1:57.36 and the Olympic Abbie Wood took bronze in 1:57.97.

Seemanova is now ranked 6th in the world this season, even ahead of the reigning Olympic champion, the Australian Ariarne Titmus.

Angharad Evans she won gold in the 100 meter breaststroke with a time of 1:05.54. The closest competitor was the Dutch national record holder Tes Schoutenwho clocked 1:06.93, while the Estonian national record holder Eneli Jefimova he completed the podium in 1:06.98.

Evans’ time represents the first foray under the 1:06 barrier and the first time by a British woman under the 1:06 barrier.

The previous British national record was 1:06.21 which Molly Renshaw had registered at the 2021 European Championships.

Evans had a PB of 1:06.25 achieved at the Edinburgh International Meet in March this year.

The time puts her fourth in the world this season.
