Neonis, painless defeat in Zoppola

The Pordenonesi, already certain of first place in the red group which is worth the pass to the semi-final with Cervignano, pay for the absences of Pippo D’Angelo and Gelormini and fall against coach Gon’s team. Truccolo’s 27 points and Capoccia’s 17 are not enough.

The last act of a second Gold phase was staged in Zoppola which saw Neonis Vallenoncello get back up after the away defeats against Bor and Gonars and take first place with a day to spare thanks to 5 consecutive successes.

First quarter at a very high pace: the guests run and shoot with excellent percentages from beyond the arc (2 bombs each for Truccolo and Capoccia, one for Brusamarello) even exceeding 30 points, with Moretuzzo forced into overtime to keep his at -7 in the 10th minute (25-32). The trend is completely reversed in the second set, when coach Brecciaroli’s team struggles to find easy conclusions and is caught up in the score by the home team, supported at this juncture by the play of the Pignaton-Morello duo. At halftime everything was in the balance at 38-39. Zoppola seems to have more and gets off to a great start with a torpedo from the usual Moretuzzo, and then takes the reins of the match thanks once again to Pignaton’s initiatives and 5 almost consecutive points from Morello. Two triples signed by Truccolo-Capoccia keep the guests in the lead, but 10 minutes from the bell it’s 58-51 for coach Gon’s team. In the final, the comeback attempts were entrusted to the hands of Riky Truccolo (7 points in the last half), but the Cantoni-Cristante duo and a triple from Centis extinguished the Pordenone team’s hopes for the final 71-63 with which the match ended.

Neonis’ next match will be Saturday 1 June at the final 4 in Gorizia, where they will face Cervignano to access the final.
