The militiamen of the al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, have claimed to have taken hostage at least one Israeli soldier who, together with others, had raided the Jabalia refugee camp in the north of the Gaza Strip. According to what was stated in a video message by the spokesperson of the al-Qassam Brigades, Abu Obeida, the Israeli soldiers entered a tunnel and were ambushed here. Hamas militiamen “lured the Zionist force” into a tunnel and here they “wounded, killed and captured” an unspecified number of Israeli soldiers, Abu Obeida says.

Humanitarian aid enters Gaza

Meanwhile today several humanitarian aid trucks are entering Gaza through the Kerem Shalom crossing. Egypt, after a phone call between Al Sisi and US President Joe Biden last Friday, had agreed to temporarily pass humanitarian aid and UN fuel through the Kerem Shalom crossing until the Rafah crossing, closed since Israel launched the operation to take control of it on May 7th.

PNA: Gaza crossing management entrusted to third parties under study

The United States, Egypt, Israel and the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) are discussing in depth how management of border crossings with the Gaza Strip could be handed over to Palestinians or third parties, a senior official says. of the ANP to the Arab World Press (AWP), as reported on the Ynet website.

“There is an ongoing careful and detailed discussion between the United States, Egypt, the Palestinian Authority and Israel regarding the official Palestinian management of border crossings in the Gaza Strip, with the possibility of a third party or an Egyptian-Palestinian Agreement,” he explained the official.

The talks mainly concern the Kerem Shalom and Rafah crossings, as well as other crossings in northern Gaza, which seek to “facilitate the entry of goods and humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip and the movement of people.”
