Post-flood works plan, the mayor of Senigallia thanks and argues

SENIGALLIA – There is satisfaction in the Senigallia municipality after the presentation of the plan for the construction of structural and infrastructural works in the basin of the Misa and Nevola rivers. Because «it is about – explains the mayor Massimo Olivetti – the second part of financed public interventions with funds allocated by the Government. In addition to the extremely urgent works already carried out, such as those relating to the removal of over-flooding material and excavation of the mouth, or under construction, such as the reconstruction of the abutment of the Cannella bridge, or already financed, such as the reconstruction of the bridge Garibaldi, further economic allocations and therefore structural interventions have been foreseen in the municipal area of Senigallia”.

Among the key points, Olivetti and the Senigallian council underline the «forecast, as we strongly requested, of three new rolling tanks: the first is that of Marazzana, for an extension of approximately 150 hectares, for a total expense of 12 million euros. The second is that of the area of number 105 and nearby areas, immediately after the Baviera ditch, for a cost of 9.5 million euros. The third in Bettolelle, upstream from the existing tank, for a cost of 975,000 euros. Furthermore, funding of another 3 million euros has been envisaged for the demolition and reconstruction of the Bettolelle Bridge and 150,000 euros for the study of the Borgo Molino neighbourhood”.

To these interventions which more closely concern the Senigallia area, are added other works affecting the areas further upstream of the Misa and Nevola rivers, such as the expansion tanks in the Pancaldo di Ostra Vetere area (for the Misa river) to protect the town of Pianello di Ostra, the one in Casine di Ostra to protect the Zipa area, and the one between Corinaldo and Trecastelli, Ponte Lucerta area, as regards the Nevola, in defense of the locality of Passo Ripe di Trecastelli. Works «which – according to Olivetti – obviously complete the safety intervention of this phase, as well as those that will be identified in the subsequent phases», thus suggesting that other areas have been discussed between the Region, the Municipality and the commissioner structure as possible locations for expansion tanks or rolling areas.

The mayor of Senigallia also focuses on the thanks ritually “to all university professors, professionals and collaborators of public structures” who have studied the flooded areas and identified solutions to reduce the hydrogeological risk; «to the president of the Marche Region and commissioner Francesco Acquaroli and to the deputy commissioner Stefano Babini for their commitment to our territories and for having listened to our requests». But more importantly, it ends on a note controversy his speech reiterating: «This is a serious response to those who still have the courage to exploit the problems of the river for electoral propaganda purposes only, despite having done nothing to make it safe for decades».
