The secretary of the Democratic Party, Elly Schlein, responded to the words spoken by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni during the rally in Piazza del Popolo in Rome on the occasion of the closing of the FdI electoral campaign. “I’m reading some things, I’m having a hard time understanding what language Giorgia Meloni is speaking, what film she’s watching. She sees another country”, said Schlein on the sidelines of the Democratic Party’s event ahead of the European Championships at the Arco della Pace in Milan.
Schlein: “We continue to nail this government on a social and wage issue”
The Dem secretary then responded to the words of the Fdi leader who asked her to take a position on whether she is democratic or not. “The other day you attacked me after saying that the left erases identity. I replied that you don’t realize that in the year and a half that you have been governing you are erasing people’s freedom. Because if you have a starvation salary , while she blocks the minimum wage, and you can’t pay your rent, while she cancels 330 million in the rent fund, if you can’t get treatment because they cut public healthcare, you don’t have full freedom in this country.” You then concluded: “We continue to nail this government to a gigantic social and wage issue that Meloni continues to try to evade with weapons of mass distraction and that the Democratic Party is not willing to accept.”
Schlein: “Differentiated autonomy is a denial of Article 3 of the Constitution”
“If the terrible project on differentiated autonomy were to pass, people’s fate would be written” based on “the place and family in which they were born”. PD secretary Elly Schlein said this in an Instagram live broadcast with students on the right to education. “We PD are insisting not to accept it” because it would be the “denial of article 3 of the Constitution, which says to remove obstacles”, she added.

Schlein: “This government does nothing but cut back on the municipalities”
“It’s not clear what this government has against the Municipalities, because since it took office it has done nothing but cut and shift responsibility onto them”, added the secretary of the Democratic Party at the electoral event in Milan. “He did it on reception with a decree that dismantles widespread reception and leaves more responsibility to the Municipalities. He did it by canceling the citizen’s income and leaving the Municipalities with an answer that they are not able to give, because they are not they have sufficient resources. And they are doing it with these 200 million cuts which only thanks to our complaint they decided to delay until after the elections”, reiterated Schlein. “But we will also be there the day after the elections, to ask for an account of these crazy choices, because it means fewer services for Italian citizens”, he concluded.
Schlein: “The birth rate is the result of precariousness”
“With free internships you don’t pay the rent, if you enter the world of work precariously you remain precarious. The government is increasing precariousness. They talk a lot about the birth rate decline and don’t see how much it is the result of precariousness which especially affects young people and women” .
