Six civic merits were awarded during the patronal feast of San Giovanni, with an “ex aequo” on sport. The Golden Sixth went to the Polisportiva Geas, which this year celebrated its 70th year of activity: 14 different disciplines for the Rossoneri club, “which contributed to the development of sport and the well-being of the community. The results achieved are excellent athletes and coaches have achieved at European, world and Olympic levels”.
For the “extraordinary commitment to the development of youth football in Italy carried out with competence and ability to inspire and motivate young talents”, the second prize was awarded to coach Carmine Nunziata, former midfielder and current technical commissioner of the national under-21 football team The Golden Sesto also went to Paolo Fondrini for 60 years of entrepreneurial activity that supported and promoted the development of the area, and for over 25 years of activity at Pentola d’oro, the restaurant run by Gennaro Lepore and Stefania Colosimo.
Space for social issues with merit at the Sesto Conferences of San Vincenzo De Paoli. Maria Palma, Rosella Masin Coronelli, Silvana Tondi and Lucia Antonietta Tondi accepted the award “for their constant commitment to serving the community with altruism, dedication and generosity, improving the lives of people with fragility”.
Finally, “for 20 years of cultural activity carried out in the area with a wide range of events and conferences that have enriched the cultural life of the city” the last recognition went to the cultural club “Il Tricolore”. “This is an important ceremony that rewards those who carry out work in the area with great commitment, bringing prestige to the city and becoming an example especially for young people. We wanted to celebrate the excellence of Sesto San Giovanni – commented the mayor Roberto Di Stefano -.
