PESARO The long wave of the flood that hit the Marche region exactly one year ago and Emilia Romagna, one year later. As everyone remembers, it was on May 16, 2023 that the blue flag was canceled in the eastern area. Even in our city, with flooding of ditches, streams and canals from the city center to Genica up to the northern area between Cattabrighe and Vismara. And if the Genica, due to the repeated rains which, even after the flood, swelled the mouth resulting in repeated bathing bans last season, remains the main suspect in the failure to confirm the flag, this is not the only problem that remains for a year from the great wave of bad weather.

Pending

In fact, artisan and service businesses but also some families are awaiting news from the Region and the competent offices because real reimbursements for actual damages have not yet arrived, when they should have been the priority in post-flood actions. In practice, the voices of some economic activities, which in the meantime have turned to trade associations for assistance, tell us that the meeting between associations and bodies with the competent regional office has been postponed for a month. Here are the testimonies of those still waiting.
These are Andrea and Barbara from Edilpieffe, a construction materials company in Via dell’Acquabona between Vismara and Strada Fornace Mancini. After the nearby ditches overflowed, a never-before-seen quantity of water and mud had hit the warehouse and the large external square. Damages of 150 thousand euros. «One year later, we have managed to cover little even with our insurance – they point out – because to date no contribution has arrived from the regional service that responded to the request for compensation for damages, after the State of Emergency recognized by the Government. It is as if in the Region, these practices like ours and many others were put on standby when they should instead be the priority. In the meantime we have relied on Cna for the procedures and practices and our consultant has reported that he is waiting for a new technical operational meeting on reimbursements to be convened. The last one in early March, but the Region seems to be doing nothing but postponing it.

The remedy

«After months, we managed to cover part of our living expenses with our insurance but the bulk has not been done and this is why we need speed and responses from the Region. For example, we were forced to repurchase our entire set of PCs because the server was heavily damaged by the mud but also several forklifts, tinting machines and truck scales in the external yard.” The person who thinks that the contributions will not arrive before 2025 is the owner of the Legatoria Adriatica in via Metauro in Vismara. «To date the owner Massimiliano Bernardi intervenes – we have only received an insurance reimbursement of 45 thousand euros, in the meantime we are taking care of the request for reimbursement of damages from the Region as per the Decree, and in the hope of obtaining 40 thousand euros which is the maximum limit (the However, our amount of damages, just for machinery and plant restoration costs, reached a total of 120 thousand). What leaves me perplexed, however, is that without an information or preferential knowledge channel, unfortunately in the competent regional offices no one responds or is able to give certain times. And so last March, thanks to one of my contacts in the Region, I was informed that they had just closed the 2022 flood reimbursement procedures. Which is why if funds will arrive, I don’t think before 2025. It is far from easy to fill out the applications if not followed step by step. For example, each application must be accompanied by an appraisal with invoices sworn by a judge and only subsequently will an inspection by the regional insurance expert follow. So in short, procedures that are, despite us, cumbersome.”
