The world of Verbanese sport mourns the passing of Sergio Greggio, who passed away at the age of 70 after having fought for a long time against the illness that had struck him. A great sports enthusiast and in particular athletics, he was a technician and manager of Avis Marathon Verbania; he was also a judge and trustee of the competition judging group of the Fidal Vco Committee and in this capacity as well as as an organizer he was committed to the end, as demonstrated by his presence on April 25th at the Verbania Liberation Meeting. He leaves behind his wife Paola and their children Andrea, also involved in sport, and Valentina, multiple World Cup winner and world speed skiing title. The rosary will be recited tomorrow at 8.30pm in the church of Madonna di Campagna in Pallanza, the funeral in the same church on Saturday 18th at 3pm.
The president of FIDAL Piedmont Clelia Zola, together with the Regional Council and regional athletics, expresses her profound sadness to Greggio’s family and also her thanks for the service that Sergio has rendered throughout his life to Piedmontese athletics, always in completely disinterested manner.
