Lina Sastri and the death of her brother Carmine: the dedication on stage
Lina Sastri carries two great pains in his heart: the death of his brother Carmine to whom he couldn’t say goodbye and the mother’s illness. The actress often spoke about her mother’s illness and her brother’s death, admitting that she had not yet overcome the pain made even more unbearable by the impossibility of being able to say goodbye to her brother with a funeral having passed away during the Covid period. “Before coronavirus he had several illnesses, an aneurysm and then cancer so he couldn’t face the virus as well“, said the actress in an interview with Verissimo in December 2021.
“I still haven’t accepted his death, he was a romantic hero, a pirate who had the courage to live at risk. We always loved each other, when he was ill I was closer to him. In the end, however, he had to go to hospital and due to the pandemic I never saw him again. I couldn’t comfort him in his pain or give him a funeral. The loss hits you stronger, more than a year has passed but the memory is still alive.” added the actress who then made a dedication to her brother on stage by reading the text “La manca”.

Difficult to accept death of her brother Carmine for Lina Sastri who also faced and had to accept her mother’s illness. The latter, in fact, passed away after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s, a disease that affected the whole family. In fact, the actress and two other people took care of her and in the same interview given to Verissimo during which she spoke about her brother Carmine, she recounted the difficulties faced in managing her mother’s illness.
“The disease lasts a long time, little by little you become a child and are no longer able to eat or walk. There were three of us with me to take care of her in the end, it takes up your life and you need help. I don’t know if she was aware of her clinical situation, but she was aware of her impotence situation. Lately she couldn’t even speak anymore, she couldn’t remember the words anymore, she communicated by singing“, the actress told Silvia Toffanin.
