“I swear”, the guys from ‘Fragile’ go on stage for Sofia

Today, starting at 5.30 pm, the ‘Fragile’ group of the Palestra Ginnastica Ferrara Asd returns to the theater with “Io giuro”, an artistic-expressive motor show, written and directed by Cinzia Cervi, Beatrice Ferrari and Sofia Maccagnani, which transforms the bodies of our children with intellectual and relational disabilities as an artistic instrument.

The stage will be that of the Sala Estense in Piazza Municipale (doors open at 5pm). One of the symbols of this show is the veil that separates the Fragile kids from the rest of the world, a thin layer which, however, sometimes seems impenetrable. It is made of a canvas on which the technicians-educators go to work, trying to break it down every day, to transform it into dreams, certainties, caresses. This time it was transformed into shopping bags on which the Fragile manifesto was printed “because fragility is power and strength is nothing”. Sports that metaphorically contain the wealth of experiences and emotions that led to the creation of this show which you can find today at the entrance to the Sala Estense. Free entry, in favor of ‘Oltre le Nuvole’ to raise funds to support Sofia’s motor learning path. There are between 7000 and 8000 known rare diseases in the world, only in 5% of cases a cure is available and diagnosis times are still very long (on average 4/5 years), which is why it is important to create awareness of the problem also through events of awareness. In Italy it is estimated that there are around one million and 200 thousand people with a rare disease. The Ferrara Gymnastics Gym is committed, with adapted physical activities, to helping those who have to live with one of these diseases. Now, specifically, he is taking care of Sofia, a 9-year-old girl suffering from Aicardi-Goutières syndrome, a hereditary subacute encephalopathy of which a few hundred cases have so far been described in the world.

With Pgf, Sofia has undertaken a motor education journey which first took her from a wheelchair to a standing position and now to walking: a motor learning journey in which we try, step by step, to increasingly improve her skills coordinative.
