Diego Rulli53 years old from Motta di Livenza (Treviso) had undergone rotator cuff surgery a few hours earlier at the San Vito al Tagliamento hospital when he was found dead in the hospital bed.
Prosecutor’s office opens the file
The routine operation was carried out on April 24, in day hospital. The causes of death have yet to be clarified and the deputy prosecutor of Pordenone Monica Carraturo opened a case under the hypothesis of manslaughter, ordering an autopsy, which will be carried out by the medical examiner Antonello Cirnelli.
Registered in the register of suspects at the moment, as reported Il Messaggero Veneto, I am the anesthesiologist and the orthopedist who performed the surgery. A necessary act, as a defensive guarantee.
He was in good health
Nothing emerges from the medical records that could explain the patient’s death. The man underwent cleaning of the rotator cuff tendons, a routine surgical operation, performed under local anesthesia, in day hospital. After the operation, the patient, who from pre-operative tests appeared to be in good health, was taken to his room for a few hours’ stay: he was expected to be discharged the same day. From the room no noise, no moan: he was found lifeless in bed.
