A large-scale fire has hit the countryside between Terralba and Arborea, in the province of Oristano, putting farms and homes in the area at risk. The flames, fueled by strong winds, originated in road 3 in the Linnas area and quickly spread among the eucalyptus trees, getting dangerously close to the residential and business structures. The alarm was raised at 12.30pm yesterday and since then significant resources have been mobilized to try to contain the advance of the fire. Three teams of firefighters, supported by two water tankers, were deployed to the site from the headquarters and local detachments.

Reinforcements from the Cagliari-Sanluri Command were added to these, highlighting the seriousness of the situation and the need for rapid and effective intervention. In support of ground operations, the Drago helicopter of the Sardinia Flight Department of the Fire Brigade was also used. The presence of the helicopter was essential for monitoring the evolution of the flames from above and coordinating containment efforts, especially in areas that were difficult to access. The joint efforts of the different teams are continuing unabated, with the aim of protecting properties and ensuring the safety of the inhabitants of the area.

The fire represents a severe blow for the community of Oristano, a region already sensitive to the risks associated with forest fires due to its vast rural areas and climatic conditions that are often favorable to the spread of fire. The authorities continue to carefully monitor the situation, ready to intervene with additional resources if necessary. In the meantime, residents of nearby areas are advised to follow the authorities’ instructions and prepare for possible evacuations if the flames get any closer to residential areas.
