Angelini Cesena debuts in the play-offs for A2

The spotlight is on the Promotion Play Offs in Serie A2 for the first time in the history of the Volley Club Cesena. On Saturday Elettromeccanica Angelini will face game 1 within the friendly walls of the MiniPalazzetto: on the other side of the net, once again, there will be Castelfranco di Sotto, the leaders of the Bianconere group and winner of the Italian Cup, the final whistle start is at 6pm. The Play Off formula includes an Italian group with one-way matches, the first in the group will obtain promotion to Serie A2. The Bianconere, third-placed in group D of the regular season, are included in group D Play Off with the first-placed team from group D, in fact, and the second-placed team from group E, i.e. Energy System Catania, opponent in the next round. Coach Cristiano Lucchi takes care of drawing up a balance sheet: “We have achieved an incredible result. When I took over the team in August, although very young, I immediately had the perception that I was dealing with a group of girls who were serious. On one hand I had the veterans of the Volley Club who were rowing to raise the bar and on the other the new additions who brought great enthusiasm: the team started to turn driven by this mix of humility and great determination”. A long season closed by Elettromeccanica Angelini with 17 victories and 7 defeats: “The added value of this year was precisely the group: having thirteen athletes of this caliber at my disposal allowed me to vary the game strategies during the matches and whoever came in from the bench has always proven to be a valuable addition. Having reached the Play Offs is the right reward for everything these girls have demonstrated.” The public on special occasions is expected to support Benazzi and her companions: “Now comes the best part. It is the third time we have met Castelfranco, we know well the value of these players who imposed themselves both in the first leg and in the second leg. In a single match I think anything can happen, but regardless of any projections, what I expect from my girls is that they enter the field confident and aware that anything is possible. We finished third, demonstrating that we know how to play great volleyball, cohesive in moments of difficulty and intelligent in finding the most suitable solutions for us: so we just have to go onto the pitch ready to fight and enjoy this great challenge.”
