FALCONARA – The cost of living is rising and Arera, the regulatory authority for energy, networks and the environment, is imposing increases for the environmental hygiene service, which will have to be recovered with the tariffs applied to private individuals and businesses. A 7.45 percent increase in tariffs is expected in Falconara for 2024, an increase that will partially cover the adjustment to inflation rates.

The expenditure incurred by the Municipality of Falconara for the environmental hygiene service has in fact gone from 5.978 million to 6.593 million euros per year (+615,470 euros), on the basis of a resolution by Arera, which required updating the prices. The adjustment provides for an increase of 4.5 percent for 2023, plus an increase of 8.8 percent for 2024, for an overall increase of 13.3 percent that the Municipalities will be able to spread over two years. starting from the current year. Although the increase in the cost supported by the Municipality is 9.6 percent, this will not weigh entirely on utilities, because compared to 2023 the institution’s budget will bear part of the increase, due to the recalculation of VAT and other direct costs as set by ATA, the territorial assembly for waste.

All the documentation underlying the recalculation of the Tari tariffs was illustrated this afternoon, Wednesday 24 April, during the budget council commission. The imposition of the increase by the relevant authorities emerged during the last meeting of the Waste Management Board which effectively implemented the Arera resolution. Since 2021, the increase in inflation has not been applied to the cost of the environmental hygiene service. To support its citizens and businesses, the Municipality of Falconara has maintained and slightly increased the fund for concessions and exemptions from which the users most in difficulty will benefit. The fund is 167 thousand euros and allows for greater benefits to be recognized than those indicated by the regulation, benefits which in any case must be requested by interested parties.

The regulation provides for a 50 percent reduction for families within which there is a pensioner or dependent children, with ISEE equal to or less than 14 thousand euros. The halving of the Tari is also foreseen for families made up of one or more people with ISEE equal to or less than 8 thousand euros. Finally, there is an exemption for families made up of one or two people aged at least 65 with ISEE equal to or less than 8 thousand euros. Reductions are also foreseen for some commercial and production categories, non-profit associations, associations that carry out socially and commercially useful activities and seasonal activities. «These are the benefits that we can support today and which are compatible with the city budget – says budget councilor Marco Giacanella -. In the future, if interest rates on mortgages fall, we will evaluate the possibility of allocating further resources for subsidies.”
