Crash at the intersection, two women killed

Dramatic crash in Pegognaga on the night between Thursday 18 April 2024 and Friday 19 April 2024: a 73-year-old and an 80-year-old died. A 20-year-old boy was also involved in the accident, which occurred shortly after half past midnight at the intersection of Via Vo and provincial road 49. He remained practically unharmed.

The 73-year-old lived in Suzzara, while the 80-year-old lived in Rio Saliceto, in the province of Reggio Emilia. For the moment, the identity of the two victims of the tragic road accident is not yet known.

The place where the accident occurred:

Perhaps a lack of precedence

The carabinieri of the Gonzaga station and the operational and radiomobile unit of the Gonzaga Company are working on the dynamics of the accident.

According to initial investigations, prior to the accident there could have been a failure to give way on the part of one of the two vehicles – the Suzuki in which the 73-year-old and the 80-year-old were traveling or the BMW in which the 20-year-old was driving.

The BMW in which the 20-year-old was travelling, remained essentially unharmed

The accident in fact occurred at the intersection between via Vo and provincial road 49: one of the two vehicles from via Vo, according to reconstructions, was about to merge onto the provincial road. At that moment the frontal-lateral impact occurred, with both cars ending up in the ditch.

Rescuers could do nothing for the 73-year-old and the 80-year-old. The 20-year-old was instead taken to hospital in Mantua under green code for checks.

The recovery of the two vehicles was entrusted to the Pradella roadside assistance service in Suzzara.
