Two sporting events of absolute importance in the national two-wheel panorama: on Monday 6 May Cherasco is preparing to experience the stage start of the Giro-E towards Fossano and welcome the passage of the third stage of the 107th Giro d’Italia, coming soon from Novara and headed towards the city of Acaja.

The two events will lead to changes to traffic on the routes under the jurisdiction of the Municipality.

The first closures will affect the historic center from the evening of Sunday 5 May: once the 131st edition of the antiques market has ended, Via Cavour, Via Garibaldi and Via Vittorio Emanuele II will remain closed to traffic for the preparation of the structures that will host the departure of the Giro E and the Green fun village. The transit ban will continue for Monday 6 May, until the end of the competitions: from 1pm the parking ban will also come into force in Via Salita Vecchia and Corso Einaudi.

The start of the third stage of the Giro-E, scheduled for 12.55 from the square in front of the Town Hall, will involve further closures: having crossed via Vittorio Emanuele II, the runners will turn, after passing the Porta Narzole arch, onto viale Salmatoris continuing on via Roma, then onto viale Regina Elena and, across via Moglia, they will join the provincial road 12 “Fondovalle”, proceeding towards the Langhe. On these routes the transit ban will start at 12.55 and will end once all the competitors have passed.

The second passage of the Giro-E caravan will affect Cherasco coming from the Verduno route: from 2pm, transit on the streets Pollenzo (section of the provincial road 7), Stura (section of the provincial road 661), Salita Vecchia and Garibaldi will be prohibited. Once back in the historic centre, the sprinters will once again travel along Via Vittorio Emanuele II and leave the town passing through Corso Einaudi. Once out of the concentric area, the cycling race will head towards Fossano, passing through the provincial road 242 through the hamlets of San Giovanni and Sant’Antonino.

The professionals involved in the third stage of the Giro d’Italia will also pass along the same itinerary around 4.30pm: the runners will cross the historic center of the City of Peace around 4.30pm, coming from Pollenzo, after having faced Via Salita Vecchia, to proceed, through the hamlets of San Giovanni and Sant’Antonino, towards Fossano. The order closing the race course will be valid from 2pm until the end of the competition. Further information can be requested by contacting the local police office on 0172-42.70.80.
