The actor Pruitt Taylor winsalready an Emmy winner, has joined the cast of next Superman in the role of Jonathan Kent. Vince started his career with roles in major films as Mississippi Burning by Alan Parker, an amazing part in the masterpiece Jacob’s Ladder by Adrian Lyne and no less in the colossal JFK by Oliver Stone. Vince has also built a long television career as a character actor, with small roles in television series such as The X-Files, Miami Vice And The Walking Deadparticularly Clifford Banks’ performance in Murder Onewhich earned him a Primetime Emmy Award for Guest Actor in a Drama Series.
The actor has already ventured into genre: in 2005 he played the eccentric priest Father Hennessy in Constantine, directed by Keanu Reeves, where he is dehydrated and then suffocated to death by a demon. Twelve years later, Vince appeared in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.Dseason 5, episodes 2-6, as Grill, director of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Lighthouse bunker in the year 2091, who dies when Flint’s geokinetic powers awaken.
The role of Jonathan Kent in James Gunn’s Superman it already is on paper among the most important of his brilliant career. After all, the adoptive father has a fundamental role in Superman’s story and an essential basis for the story, as inspiring in life as in death. It shouldn’t be too surprising if the DCU version by Jonathan Kent didn’t make it to the closing credits alive.
