The mega long weekend of April 25th and May 1st is coming: Liguria in pole position for the “spring break”

Genoa. What is coming could be a very rare opportunity to treat yourself to a real mega-bridge while taking advantage of two national holidays. Work permitting, obviously. A situation that could open the door to a real relaxing spring holiday, something unusual for the Italian tradition, but usual for example for the Anglo-Saxon world, which also coined the phrase “spring break”, i.e. Spring break. And Liguria could be the quintessential half of these real early holidays.

Here’s what the calendar tells us. April 25 falls on a Thursday, with only Friday in between the following weekend, while May Day arrives on a Wednesday. In this way with only 5 days off from work (Friday 26, Monday 29, Tuesday 30, Thursday 2 and Friday 3) you will be able to enjoy 11 consecutive days of vacation. A nice investment.

According to some data analyst of the tourism sector, this mega bridge could lead to a large increase in stays not only in the great art cities of our country, but also and above all in places where holiday tourism is usually expressed at its peak in the summer period, the Ligurian Riviera in the first places. “Above all, requests for accommodation by couples are increasing with a +14% compared to the previous year and by families and small groups with a growth of +27% – explains Sara Digiesi, CEO of BWH Hotels Italia & Malta – A growth that takes on even more value if we consider che spring long weekends are a period that always presents a high demand. The duration of the average stay is also significant, settling at 3 and 4 nights, even for destinations with normally shorter stays, thanks to the more holidays available”.

According to BWH, however, an important trend that is increasingly developing should not be underestimated, namely the desire to avoid phenomenon of overtourism and then retreat to places that are perhaps less known and not under attack, which, however, hide small treasures to be discovered. AND the many Ligurian villages, perhaps a few kilometers from the coast, could be a coveted target. “Already during the year, the desire of travelers to discover new destinations emerged – continues Sara Digiesi – Sicily, for example, allows truly unique itineraries among its beauties and is able to attract both sea lovers and those who prefer a cultural tourism”. According to analysts, the Ligurian Riviera will be among the most sought-after destinations for Italians in these days of the mega-bridge, together with Sicily, Cilento and the Romagna Riviera.
