Libera is a network of associations, social cooperatives, movements and groups, schools, unions, dioceses and parishes, scout groups, involved in a commitment not only “against” mafias, corruption, crime phenomena and those who fuel them, but profoundly “for”: for social justice, for the search for truth, for the protection of rights, for a transparent policy, for a democratic legality based on equality, for a living and shared memory, for a citizenship worthy of spirit and hopes of the Constitution.

Born in 1995, in recent years it has remained faithful to some ethical and practical guidelines. The first is continuity. You can have nice starting ideas, but then you have to realize them with tenacity and daily commitment. The second is the proposal. The fight against mafias and corruption cannot be based on indignation alone: it must follow the proposal and the project. The third was the “we”, that is, sharing and co-responsibility. Mafias and corruption are not only a criminal problem but a social and cultural one, to be addressed by joining forces.

It is present throughout Italy in 20 regional coordinations, 82 provincial coordinations and 278 local centers. There are 80 international organizations belonging to the Libera Internazionale network, in 35 countries in Europe, Africa and Latin America.
